Yatta Multipurpose Farmers’ Cooperative Society (YMFCS)

Overview: The Yatta Multipurpose Farmers’ Cooperative Society is a vital agricultural cooperative located in the Yatta region of Kenya. Established to uplift farmers through collaboration and shared resources, YMFCS aims to enhance agricultural productivity and improve the socio-economic conditions of its members and the surrounding community.

Historical Context:

We are farmers set on creating a sustainable home place for generations to come. In November of 2017 a few members of the community envisioned the potential for our community economic growth and started with very limited resources but an endless determination. Some of our community individuals had planted mangoes in their farms. We were awakened by the world wide shortage of mangoes, coupled with ever growing demand from the consumers, processors and exporters. After this realization we set our focus on the feasibility of small scale production in Yatta.

Governance: YMFCS operates under a democratic governance structure, with a board of directors elected by the members. This board is responsible for strategic planning, resource management, and ensuring transparency in all cooperative activities. Regular meetings and open forums encourage member participation and feedback.
